Mark Walker doesn't feel the same as some of his rival trainers in tomorrow's group one $150,000 Stoney Bridge Stakes that Darci Brahma will improve physically from the Mudgway Stakes.
To some Darci Brahma might have looked a little full on condition at Hastings three weeks ago, but he is a stallion and Walker says there is no suggestion the star galloper wasn't ready for his assignment.
"He was fit enough all right, he just didn't get any luck."
This is going to develop into one of the most intriguing weight-for-age battles of recent years and Walker, understandably, is not keen to reveal publicly what his tactics will be with Darci Brahma from an outside barrier at the tricky 1600m starting point at Hastings.
One glaring fact is that Darci Brahma will be up against it if he is giving Kristov six lengths on the home bend.
Quite separate from the six lengths will be the fact that Kristov will be hard against the inside running rail and Darci Brahma will be required to go around runners improving on the home bend.
No firm plans have been made for Darci Brahma after this race.
Walker sums it up as: "Ten per cent the Kelt Capital, 35 per cent the Epsom Handicap and 55 per cent the Toorak Handicap."
Racing: Another tough assignment for Darci Brahma
