KEY POINTS:
David Butcher and Brent Mangos could hold the keys to a $400,000 windfall for punters at Cambridge tonight.
The two high-class horseman have a number of winning chances in the Pick6 jackpot, which is guaranteed to be $400,000 after it was only partially struck at Addington last week.
Many Pick6 punters will be disappointed the club did not put champion filly One Dream in a leg to make it essentially a Pick5, instead opting to make her race the fourth on the card.
That has left a difficult maiden trot to start the Pick6 but after that smaller fields and some standout performers should ensure the rich pool is struck.
The second leg is a 2-year-old Sires' Stakes heat where Mangos' drive, The Cavalier, looks the horse to beat, alongside Strike Up The Band and Maheer Skipper.
"He is a smart horse, has gate speed and is also clean-gaited so he has to be hard," said Mangos.
"He should be handy and that is very important in a mile race on this track."
Strike Up The Band was particularly impressive beating The Cavalier home last start and has won his only start at Cambridge so it is a must for Pick6 punters.
The third leg looks particularly even, with all 10 starters eligible for a Harness Plus bonus but Butcher, driving his own stable representative Barachias, must be included with Johnny Knoxville, Galaxy Raider, Victory Spirit and possibly Westwind Renegade.
The next should see Butcher come out on top with Rowan Maggie, who was outstanding winning at Alexandra Park last start, although the field of seven does contain six last-start winners.
Mangos rates his chances in the fifth leg, where he drives Landoras Special.
She has won two of her last six starts in a field with few in-form trotters.
"She is trotting well at the moment and seems to have improved so you would have to have her in the Pick Six," said Mangos.
The last leg is a junior driver's race. These are always open to an upset, and punters could be advised to go wide.
* Butcher is third with 57 wins on the premiership table while Mangos is eighth with 40 wins.
