KEY POINTS:
An additional 244 races have been scheduled for the next racing season, the New Zealand Racing Board announced yesterday.
Most of the extra races will be for greyhounds with an increase of 195 races. The season starting August 1 has 4152 greyhound races, compared to 3957 this season.
There will be an extra 29 thoroughbred races programmed to take the season's tally to 3046 from 3017. Harness racing has an additional 20 races, increasing from 2716 to 2736.
There will be eight extra harness meetings next season, five on Tuesdays. Thoroughbred racing will have two more meetings.
