Track conditions for the Melbourne Cup look set to favour the New Zealand horses this afternoon.
Harris Tweed and and Monaco Consul finished second and third respectively in the Caulfield Cup.
Showers this morning and heavy falls over the weekend mean the track will be slow at best and maybe even dead.
Legendary trainer Bart Cummings says that';s perfect for the Kiwi stayers, who love the wet tracks.
Cummings is in line for his 13th Melbourne Cup victory, with So You Think the shortest priced favourite in nearly 40 years.
Red Ruler is the other New Zealand horse in the field.
