Australian jumps jockey Paul Hamblin has been suspended for six months, effective immediately, on a charge of having had 33 bets on horses that he was riding against.
He was also fined A$2000 ($2275) on another charge of having had 3225 bets on horses between June 6 last year and March 5 this year. They ranged from $4 to $40.
Racing Victoria Stewards conducted a marathon inquiry into bets placed through accounts owned by 10 jockeys, five flat riders and five jumps jockeys.
Jockeys are allowed to have betting accounts and can bet on other sports but they are not allowed to bet on thoroughbred racing.
