There seems to be no end in sight to the rapid improvement of Ima Gold Digger and that should be all punters need to know heading into today's $40,000 Flying Mile at Cambridge.
The 5-year-old has been the revelation of the open-class trotting season, scoring two huge wins during his southern campaign before returning home to set up a national record for I Can Doosit at Alexandra Park last start.
One of his key weapons is his gate speed and from barrier two at the tricky Cambridge mile start point that should see him land in front today.
Under that scenario only home track star Sovereignty would seem to have any realistic chance of beating Ima Gold Digger.
"He came here back in June and set up a 1:56 mile in the Jewels and he is definitely better now than he was then," said trainer Michelle Wallis of Ima Gold Digger.
"He has improved a lot and just seems to keep getting better so this looks a good race for him."
As much as the conditions of today's race suit Ima Gold Digger, Sovereignty at his best has real x-factor and if he can stay handy and trot smoothly he is the danger.
Sno's Big Boy and Stylish Monarch are others good enough to win but will need a hot early pace because of their wide draws.
Another small field contests the main pace today and Red Zone looks ideally placed to take advantage of a drop in class.
He has been racing in open class lately but comes in well today drawn at two and with the gate speed to lead or trail.
River Field is a logical danger, especially as he too has developed gate speed lately and Pick6 punters should take both.
