It worked a year ago, so why not a second time?
Well, at least that's the thinking of trainers Catherine Wilson and Ken Cropp as they set 10-year-old Bulginbaah up for a defence of the Foxbridge Plate at Te Rapa on Saturday.
They have turned to veteran rider Trudy Thornton, whose vigorous style of riding worked to a nicety in last year's Foxbridge when they ran down tearaway pacemaker Richard Beymer in the final 100m.
"Trudy's delighted to be back aboard," said Wilson.
Last-start rider Opie Bosson is committed to former three-year-old fillies star Katie Lee for the Foxbridge. She galloped between races last week and looked in pristine condition.
Wilson is aiming Bulginbaah at the Mudgway Stakes on Saturday fortnight, but fears he won't make the field, such is the strength of this year's nominations, which include Katie Lee, The Hombre, Wall Street, Pennachio, Mufhasa and Run Like Al.
