Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum may be struggling with a back injury but he was still able to pull out his wallet and spend $100,000 at National Yearling Sales at Karaka yesterday.
McCullum, who owns Vermair Racing, purchased a bay filly sired by Ocean Park and dam Under And Over.
The filly is a half-sister to racehorses Bird, Happy Gilmour, Scarlet Begonias and Classcoroc and was bought under McCullum's banner.
It was towards the lower end of money spent yesterday. The most was $775,000 by Te Akau Stud's David Ellis for a Savabeel-Bling colt.
McCullum missed the Black Caps opening ODI victory over Pakistan in Wellington yesterday due to a back injury but is set to return for the third match at Eden Park next Wednesday.
