Since November they have won the $700,000 NZ Cup, A$750,000 Miracle Mile, A$400,000 Victoria Cup, $200,000 New Zealand Free-For-All (in which they ran first and second) and the A$100,000 Queen Of The Park.
Then on Sunday, Adore Me became the fastest miler in Australasian history pacing with a remarkable 1:47.7 time in a A$200,000 race at Menangle outside Sydney, breaking the old record by 0.8 of a second.
That sealed her status as the best race mare in the world, but tonight's Cup will be even more special for Mr Roberts because he will see it live.
"I can't travel these days because I had a stroke last year and the doctor told me flying increases my chances of it happening again," he says.
"And I don't want that because I want to live to 100. I want to get that letter from the Queen and I also want to be around to see Adore Me's foals race."
So Mr Roberts will perch up on his walking frame in the winner's circle to watch tonight's Cup at 9.26pm, not because he expects to win but because it is the easiest place for him to watch the races.
A hometown victory would be the crowning glory of a lifetime in racing for Mr Roberts, who as a veterinarian was instrumental in implementing post-race drug testing of horses here.
"There have been plenty of lean times when I didn't have any good horses so to have these two now, racing against each other, is very special," he says.
"But Adore Me doesn't just belong to me. After her wins this summer she belongs to anybody in New Zealand who loves horses."
