Racing: Just An Excuse beats Elsu in NZ Trotting Cup repeat

The same one-two result as last year was repeated in today's New Zealand Trotting Cup here at Addington when Just An Excuse beat Elsu.

Just An Excuse held out the challenge of Elsu to win last year's cup but today the roles were reversed, with Just An Excuse running down Elsu, who had been a warm favourite at a dividend of about $2.15.

Just An Excuse, who got home by a long neck, was the third favourite and returned a win dividend of $7.30.

There was gap of 3-1/2 lengths to third-placed Howard Bromac while half a neck away in fourth was second favourite Mister D G, who weakened after being outside the leader over the concluding stages.
