Our lions have let themselves down. Rugby punditry may not be their game.
But, like the world champion All Blacks, they have one match left to restore their pride.
After going early and mistakenly picking the British and Irish Lions to win the first test, they doubled up with another wrong choice by backing New Zealand in the nail-biter in Wellington last weekend.
For each test, the Herald has visited the lions at their undisclosed location in New Zealand and given them the chance to join the pantheon of match-predicting animals like Paul the psychic octopus who guessed winners in football's 2010 World Cup.
They have been offered the choice of sinking their teeth into a black ball with a silver fern emblazoned across it, or a red ball featuring a lion.
