Auckland poker player Dan Sing won the Main Event of the New Zealand Poker Open at Sky City Casino in Auckland last night, earning $50,860.
After 17 hours of play over two days, Sing outlasted 176 players that all paid $1,100 to enter the tournament, which generated a prize pool of $176,000.
Singh claimed the title after a thrilling two-hour heads up battle with Wellington player Charlie Hawes who walked away with $33,090.
The Main Event was the flagship event of the seven-day tournament series, which featured six events and attracted many of New Zealand's top poker players.
