An emotional tribute to Jerry Collins and his wife Alana Madill has been made by French Rugby team Narbonne at their season-opener today.
In their first public opportunity since the fatal crash, the team unveiled a giant jersey and video tribute in honour of the former All Black captain. This was followed by a minute's silence and a stirring haka.
Teammate Rocky Elsom said, "Jerry and Alana meant a lot to the team and the boys wanted to pay their respects. Doing a haka for the first time, live on television and in front of a packed house for a mate who has passed away is not an easy thing to do."
Elsom thanked the Narbonne supporters club for their ongoing help with the Collins and Madill families since the crash on June 5.
Collins and partner Madill died instantly in the incident in the south of France and their then three-month-old baby, Ayla, was in a critical condition after being airlifted to a hospital in Montpellier.
