A number of ugly incidents took place in the world of international rugby last weekend.
Australian captain James Horwill hogged the headlines after being cited for a stamp on Lions lock Alun-Wyn Jones, but it could be argued that the worst piece of decision making took place in Pretoria.
Alesana Tuilagi was shown a straight red card for his high, and late, tackle on South Africa captain Jean de Villiers during the Springboks' big win over Samoa in the Quandrangular Tournament final.
Tuilagi's hit was rightly punished but Samoan team mate James So'oialo was cleared of any "malicious intention" after it was ruled that he only accidentally grabbed the testicles of Bok hooker Adriaan Strauss near the beginning of the second half.
