When Waikato met East Coast-Ngati Porou in a Ranfurly Chield challenge match on Tuesday, the pre-match performance really stole the show.
In true East Coast style, the spectators rushed the field to surround the two teams as they laid down an intense and fearsome challenge prior to the match.
There was also a man casually observing proceedings from a large white horse.
Waikato won the game 65-10 but those in Ruatoria may remember the day more for the pre-match festivities.
