When the Wellington Firebirds faced the Auckland Aces in the HRV Cup in Wellington last weekend, the biggest cheer of the night was reserved for this stunning catch from a bloke in the stand.
With Auckland needing 72 runs from 49 balls Aces star Luke Wright smashed a hard, flat six of the bowling of Luke Woodcock, but what happened next was quite remarkable.
A fan, sitting with a group of friends in the first row of seats, leaned over the barriers and plucked the ball out of the air with his left hand, much to the delight of players, commentators and fans alike.
"You're absolutely kidding me," said Ian Smith in the commentary box.
"That'll go around the world, that's YouTube stuff, that is just sensational. In America they'd celebrate that, but they have gloves on in the outfield."
