Some players regard pre-season fixtures as 'friendlies'. Northampton Saints flanker Courtney Lawes is not one of them.
In this bone-crunching clip from a 'friendly' game in England against the Bedford Blues, Lawes landed this swashbuckling hit early in the first half.
With the ball making its way along the Bedford backline, Lawes charged at his opposite number and used all 6 ft 7 inches of his body as a battering ram, which left his opponent battered, bruised and writhing in agony.
The start of the new Aviva Premiership season is still more than two weeks away but it sure seems like Lawes is ready for action now.
