Last year's MTA Formula Ford championship rookie of the year and MTA Scholarship winner, Stefan Webling, is the Triple X Motorsport junior driver for the 2008/9 season. The teen will work alongside last year's champion, Craig Baird, and Aussie winner David Reynolds as part of the six-car team. Webling will have a new Formula Ford for the 2008/09 season.
IndyCars on the Gold Coast
The IRL has confirmed 24 IndyCar drivers will hit the streets of Surfers Paradise when the Nikon Indy 300 reaches the Gold Coast on October 23-26. Fans can expect to see the likes of current championship leader Kiwi Scott Dixon plus fellow front-runners Helio Castroneves, Dan Wheldon and Tony Kanaan, as well as the first woman to win a major open wheel race, Danica Patrick.
Australian speed week
Australia is to get its own Speed Week next year. The Adelaide V8 Supercar street race will run from March 19 to 22 and the Australian Grand Prix will be at Melbourne's Albert Park on March 26-29. It'll be a tight squeeze for the V8s to finish at Adelaide and then haul all their gear to Melbourne for the non-points-scoring round.
Stoner gunning for Rossi
Casey Stoner is looking forward to continuing his recent good form in the MotoGP championship this weekend in the Czech Republic. Smarting from his second-place finish behind series leader Valentino Rossi, the young Aussie is set on closing the 25-point gap to Rossi.
WRC takes to the tarmac
From the cold of the gravel roads of Finland, the WRC prepares to hit the tarmac for the first time since Monaco, back in January, this weekend. Rallye Deutschland is the 10th in the 15-round world series and the last rally before the teams pack up and head to New Zealand. Back on his favoured surface, Citroen driver Sebastien Loeb will be looking for his seventh consecutive win in Germany and re-establishing himself at the top of the points table ahead of Mikko Hirvonen with Chris Atkinson back in third.
