There are also flecks of purple seen in the crowd, the traditional Tongan colour of mourning.
Participants proceed through the foyer of the centre and take seats inside the auditorium, which has been set up as a symbol of the Lomu house for guests to pay their respects.

Lomu, who played 63 tests for New Zealand, died unexpectedly at his Auckland home on November 18.
"This is a way for Pasifika communities to respect their traditions, through oratory, music and gifts," Mayor Len Brown said.
His death sparked a global outpouring of grief for the blockbuster wing roundly recognised as changing the face of rugby union forever.
Jonah's brother John Lomu said the family was grateful to the communities of South Auckland for supporting the family's desire to adhere to their traditions.
"We know that Jonah was treasured by New Zealanders and people all over the world," he said.
"For us, he was a brother, a son, and a man who was proud of his roots."
The 'Aho Faka Famili event starts midday, with doors opening at 11am.
John Pulu, journalist with TVNZ's Tagata Pasifika show, will MC the event.
People are asked to dress respectfully and "refrain from using mobile phones or cameras" inside the arena, during the event.
Trains and buses will operate to the normal timetable, with regular fares and passes applying.
The Pasifika event comes ahead of Monday's public memorial at Eden Park.
New Zealand broadcaster John Campbell will be the MC for the event -- entitled Remembering Jonah -- which will feature videos of Lomu's achievements as well as speakers and music that reflect his life.
Musicians Lizzie Marvelly, Adeaze and Ardijah will perform.
World Rugby chairman Bernard Lapasset will attend alongside international rugby union representatives, All Blacks and well-known faces from New Zealand's sporting community.
It is open to the public and it is requested people are seated by no later than 12.45pm for the 1pm start.
Jonah's casket will be taken from Eden Park to his Epsom home following the ceremony.
