KEY POINTS:
Former Olympian Les Mills has identified Scott Dixon, Valerie Vili and Sophie Pascoe as the front-runners for the Supreme award at tonight's Halberg Awards in Auckland.
While Dixon and Vili have been widely tipped for the overall gong, three-time Paralympic gold medallist Pascoe has been rarely mentioned.
Mills says Pascoe's achievements are slightly more remarkable than the other finalists, but all three are very evenly matched. The four-time Olympian says although he would have voted for Pascoe, he would not be upset if any of those three won the award.
Les Mills says while the Kiwis winning the Rugby League World Cup was a great achievement, the Evers-Swindell twins are more deserving of the team of the year award. He says people have to remember the Kiwis were not perfect in 2008 and while in terms of a one-off final result the World Cup win was great, in terms of the whole year it was not all positive for the Kiwis.
