Sophie Pascoe was back in business at the IPC swimming world championships in Glasgow today.
Having had to settle for a bronze in her opening event, the 50m freestyle, 24 hours earlier, Pascoe won the SM10 category individual medley.
Pascoe went into the final with the fastest time and championship record. She clocked 2min 26.51s to win gold, her time less than a second off her own world record set at the London Paralympics three years ago.
Visually impaired swimmer Mary Fisher, who did win gold on the opening day, followed that with a silver in the S11 400m freestyle. She was beaten by world record holder Daniele Schulte of Germany.
Paralympian Nikita Howarth had a fine day in the pool setting an Oceania record and personal best time of 1:29.77 to qualify for the women's SB8 100m breaststroke. She went on to place 6th in the final in 1:28.77 and take another second off the Oceania record.
