It paid for Polish fencer Adrian Castro to have his future father-in-law's approval prior to the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
Castro's bronze medal is likely to cost him thousands of dollars as he and his opponent had a little wager on their bout.
The father-in-law-to-be, Polish teammate and defending Paralympic champion Grzegorz Pluta, took the 15-8 defeat in his stride.
Until Castro brought up who was paying for the wedding.
"I met his daughter during a fencing training camp four years ago," the Castro said.
