KEY POINTS:
QINGDAO - New Zealand boardsailor Tom Ashley will sail for an Olympic gold medal tomorrow just one point off the lead after his worst finish of the yachting regatta today.
In light winds, Ashley finished 32nd in the 10th race of the RS:X class, which saw him surrender a three-point lead to slip to third, just a point behind co-leaders Nick Dempsey of Britain and Julian Bontemps of France.
The top 10 contest the medal race tomorrow where points count for double.
Meanwhile, Laser sailor Andrew Murdoch finished fifth overall, just six points off the bronze medal position, after winning the medal race.
It was New Zealander Murdoch's second consecutive win, but a horror first half of the regatta came back to haunt him.
British sailor Paul Goodison won gold, ahead of Slovenia and Italy.
