A snowboarder has been chosen as New Zealand's flag bearer for tomorrow's Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Vancouver.
Juliane Bray is already a veteran of an Olympic campaign where she placed strongly in boarder cross and half pipe in Torino.
The 34-year-old has been competing on the international circuit since 1995. She will wear the Te Mahutonga cloak last donned by Mahe Drysdale at the Beijing Olympic Games.
The announcement came at a hall belonging to the Squamish community - one of the aboriginal peoples of British Columbia with close affiliations to Maori.
The New Zealand team has met together for the first time. They now split to different villages, but remain linked by the silver fern and lounge-to-lounge Skype.
