Watch: Pranksters sneak their way into Olympic parade, not the first time

The two pranksters who managed to blag their way onto a float during yesterday's UK Olympic homecoming parade have been named.

Entrepreneur Jamie Rawsthorne and friend Zac Alsop walked onto the float in Manchester unchallenged when they arrived wearing fake medals and Team GB tracksuits.

After the bus prank the pair even managed to talk their way into a party where they were snapped with The Voice judge Will.i.am.

Bristol University graduate Mr Rawsthorne and Mr Alsop were filmed celebrating and waving to crowds from a float next to Rio 2016 heroes before being interviewed on live TV.

The pair claimed to be fencing stars and kissed their fake medals while dancing next to the gold medal-winning women's hockey team.

They were only rumbled when confronted by Sky News correspondent Paul Kelso.

Mr Rawsthorne, who runs a startup designed to stop struggling students dropping out of education, said: "We got the medals and we just thought, you know, we'd give it a go.

"We actually got ushered on, it was completely against our will. We blag something every now and then".

Realising they had been rumbled they then promised to get off at the next stop.

But this is not the first time the pair have talked their way into a high profile event.

The pair have previously blagged their way on stage with Skepta at a Manchester club night and used hi-vis jackets to get backstage with The Four Owls at the Tokyo World Festival in Bristol.

The British Olympic Association called the incident 'disappointing' but did not touch on the security implications.

The event was attended by Theresa May and the majority of Team GB and ParalympicsGB's biggest stars with police and other security manning checkpoints along the route.

Yet two men were able to get among the elite athletes simply by buying themselves tracksuits and plastic medals to wear.

A BOA spokesman said: "We are aware of the matter, and are disappointed anyone would want to detract from the athletes' celebration.

"This did not spoil anyone's enjoyment of a wonderful event."
