KEY POINTS:
BEIJING - Leading New Zealand triathlete Sam Warriner is leaving no stone unturned in her bid to acclimatise for the heat of the Olympic Games - including blocking her hotel air conditioning.
Into her second week of preparation at the New Zealand camp in Cheju, Korea, Warriner has settled into a one-dimensional routine aimed at peaking for her race north of Beijing on August 18.
"To be honest, other than training and eating I don't leave my room," Warriner wrote on her website.
"We have redecorated the room with quotes on the mirrors, this year's World Cup and championship medals are hanging from the pictures on the walls and my birthday cards are around the room also."
The biggest redecoration feat was to tape up the air conditioning vents, creating a perpetual sauna for she and partner Stephen.
"I need to be in the heat all the time as living in an air conditioned room is not acclimatising."
Members of the neighbouring British triathlon team have already labelled Warriner "crazy" without even knowing about her quirky diet.
"I'm eating boiled eggs and rice for breakfast every morning in preparation for race day as that will be my diet in Beijing. It's just too difficult to find anything else there."
That's washed down with a daily consumption of six two-litre bottles of water.
