Taekwondo: Gold for NZ at Olympic qualifiers

New Zealander Varina Wihongi has claimed a gold medal in the under 67 kilograms Asian taekwondo Olympic qualifiers in Bangkok after Filipino Mary Antoinette Rivero withdrew with a leg injury.

The top three in each category make the cut for the Olympic Games in Athens.

New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and host Thailand each clinched gold medals while Australia claimed a bronze on the opening day.
