New Zealand shooters Yang Wang and Graeme Ede had disappointing days at the Beijing Olympics yesterday.
Wang, 32, failed to reach the final of the men's 10m air pistol, shooting 571 points from a possible 600.
Wang, who was born in China but lives in Auckland, was 39thin a field of 47.
He said he had shot better in training at Beijing but the pressure of the Olympics had made him nervous given he was shooting in front of friends and family.
Wang would have needed 581 points to reach the top eight shooters who were to contest this afternoon's final.
Cantabrian Ede was 32nd of 35 shooters in the trap shooting qualifying series, after 75 shots.
He has 50 more qualifying shots today, but his chances of making the top six for the final look to have disappeared.
Commonwealth Games gold medallist Ede, 48, scored 65 from a possible 75, and hit only 20 targets in his final 25-shot bracket.
He had opened with 21 from 25, then hauled himself up with 24 in his second shoot.
David Kostelecky leads the competition on 73, tied with world record holder Giovanni Pellielo of Italy.
