Single sculls rower Mahe Drysdale believes in some ways he's leaving for London worse off than his preparation for the last Olympics - and that's a good thing.
The elite crews will leave today for Europe, headed for Lucerne where they'll compete in a World Cup regatta next week.
Drysdale says he's not feeling as physically good as the same time in 2008, when he won bronze in Beijing.
"Leaving the country I was probably in better shape but I felt like I was already at my peak and just trying to hold on. This year I feel like that training is really well on track and I'm really happy with where I am.''
Drysdale says in 2008 he wasn't as confident as he is now.
