Despite having officially hung up the goggles for good, Olympic legend Michael Phelps has spent his first day of retirement in the familiar surroundings of a pool.
This time, however, the 28-time Olympic medal winner, 31, was in the company of his fiancée Nicole Johnson and their baby son Boomer at his family home in Maryland.
The multiple-record breaker took to Instagram to share the precoius moment, captioning the photo, "There's nothing like being home!! Great way to spend my first day of retirement!!"
Phelps, who won five gold medals and a silver medal while at the Rio Olympics, announced his impending retirement for the second time of his career ahead of the Games, but is being tipped by many to make a final return to the pool in time for 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a move that would mirror his decision to return to the pool in 2014 after retiring following the 2012 London Olympics.
