A quick bite of the best of the action from day 12 at the London 2012 Olympics.
Heartbreak for Black Sticks
An astonishing game of hockey at the Riverbank Stadium. After 70 minutes of normal time and 15 minutes of golden goal, the Netherlands and New Zealand could not be separated from their 2-2 draw.
That forced them into a shootout from the 25m line. It was agony for New Zealand, with Holland winning 3-1 in the shootout. Still, it was a remarkable, brave performance from the Black Sticks who will meet hosts Great Britain in the bronze medal playoff. If you felt nothing after watching Anita Punt dissolve into tears at the end, then you've a hard heart indeed.
A ton of medals
New Zealand won its 100th Olympic medal, silver to Pete Burling and Blair Tuke in the 49er. Okay, so it might be bit of a contrived achievement, but let's rejoice anyway after what has been a marginally disappointing couple of days (think Willis and Adams). Harry Kerr was the first, in London, in 1908 in the sadly discontinued 3.5km walk. He was representing Australasia, or Aus Zealand as it is now known.
