A quick bite of the best of the action from day 11 at the London 2012 Olympics.
Bronze number five
In a finish so close they couldn't separate them, Simon van Velthooven was awarded bronze along with Dutchman Teun Mulder in the final of the keirin. In a race won by an emotional Sir Chris Hoy, van Velthooven showed true grit to come around the outside to snatch bronze on the line. Hoy and silver medallist Max Levy had almost finished celebrating by the time van Velthooven was confirmed. It was New Zealand's first medal in sprint cycling and cycling's sixth in total.
Golden chance
What a day for Olivia Powrie and Jo Aleh in the 470s. A pair of 1st placings has them in 1st overall with just three races, including the medal race, remaining. If Nick Willis finished out of the medals this morning in the 1500m final, they are now in pole.
In contrast, it was a calamitous day on the deep blue for the men's 470 team of Paul Snow-Hansen and Jason Saunders. A 13th and 12th has dropped them to fifth overall and well out of contention with just the medal race remaining. Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page lead, continuing a very good regatta for Australia. JP Tobin finished 8th in his RS:X medal race and 7th overall.
