2.45 pm: Opening ceremony from the Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Featuring mountains of peformers including Sting, LeAnn Rimes, Rita Coolidge and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The city's favourite brother-and-sister act, Donny and Marie Osmond, will also be there among the torch carriers. Composer John Williams will direct the Utah Syphony Orchestra and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in a performance of the Games' theme, Call of the Champions, which he wrote.

Also watch out for New Zealand's Claudia Riegler in the women's slalom on February 20, Todd Haywood and Jesse Teat in both the slalom and giant slalom on Feb 22 and Feb 24, the bobsleigh team from Feb 17, and Liz Couch in the skeleton on Feb 21.
