Olympics: What's on the box, week one

Saturday

2.45 pm: Opening ceremony from the Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Featuring mountains of peformers including Sting, LeAnn Rimes, Rita Coolidge and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The city's favourite brother-and-sister act, Donny and Marie Osmond, will also be there among the torch carriers. Composer John Williams will direct the Utah Syphony Orchestra and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in a performance of the Games' theme, Call of the Champions, which he wrote.

Sunday

3 pm - 6 pm, 8.35 pm - midnight: Freestyle moguls (women's final), cross-country (women's 15km, mens 30km), figure skating (pairs short programme), speed skating (men's 5000m), ski jumping, ice hockey.

Monday

3.05 pm - 6 pm, 9.35 pm - 10.30 pm, 10.40 pm - midnight: Downhill (men's), halfpipe (women's finals), ski jumping (men's K90 finals), speed skating (women's 3000m), ski jumping, luge, snowboarding, ice hockey.

Tuesday

3.05 pm - 6 pm, 9.35 pm - 10.30 pm, 10.40 pm - midnight: Downhill (women's), halfpipe (men's finals), biathlon (women's 15km, men's 20km), luge (men's), figure skating (pairs free programme), curling.

Wednesday

3.05 pm - 6 pm, 9.35 pm - 10.30 pm, 10.40 pm - midnight: Moguls (men's finals), cross-country (women's 10km, men's 15km), figure skating (men's short programme), speed skating (men's 500m, featuring Mark Jackson), ski jumping, curling, ice hockey.

Thursday

3.05 pm - 6 pm, 9.35 - 10.30 pm, 10.40 pm - midnight: Combined downhill/slalom (men's), biathlon (men's 10km sprint, women's 7.5km sprint), ski jumping (men's K120 finals), luge (women's, featuring Angela Paul), short track (women's 1500m).

Friday

3.05 pm - 6 pm, 9.35 pm - 10.30 pm, 10.40 pm - midnight: Combined downhill/slalom (women's), cross-country (men's 10km and 10km pursuit), figure skating (men's free programme).

Also watch out for New Zealand's Claudia Riegler in the women's slalom on February 20, Todd Haywood and Jesse Teat in both the slalom and giant slalom on Feb 22 and Feb 24, the bobsleigh team from Feb 17, and Liz Couch in the skeleton on Feb 21.
