New Zealand's 'golden hour' was the finest 60 minutes of Olympic action that New Zealand has seen since the Rome Olympics in 1960.
In a reprisal of the feats of 1960 when Peter Snell and Murray Halberg made history - Mahe Drysdale and the pairing of Eric Murrayand Hamish Bond both won gold medals within 60 minutes of each other.
In a moment which is sure to live on in Kiwi folklore, Murray and Bond earned the Kiwis their second gold medal in the men's pair before Drysdale earned a third in the men's single scull.
It evoked memories of a much loved and celebrated Kiwi Olympic moment, when Snell won gold in the 800m, and within half an hour Halberg won the 5000m.
Was it the greatest day in New Zealand Olympic history? Probably not, that honour would go to Super Saturday in Beijing, where the Kiwis scooped two golds and a supersized bag of other medals.
