Previous olympic hosts were impressed with London's efforts during the opening ceremony.
Beijing staged the Games in 2008. China network TV said: "The ceremony has been an eccentric and exuberant celebration of British history, art and culture."
In 2004, Athens held the Olympics. Greek newspaper I Kathimerini said: "Brilliance, dynamism and variety of visual effects conducted the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London."
The Aussies hosted the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. The Sydney Morning Herald said: "Danny Boyle's vivid and vibrant pageant set the tone for these Games and perhaps even a new direction for the Olympic movement. Rio has a hard act to follow."
