NBC has won the United States broadcast rights to the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2012 Summer Games. It will pay US$2.201 billion ($3.84 billion) for the rights in total. International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge said the figure represented a rise of more than 32 per cent over previous deals.
NBC, Fox and ABC handed in official bids to the IOC on Saturday. CBS pulled out of the bidding because of uncertainty over where both Games will be held.
The IOC will decide on July 2 between Vancouver in Canada, Salzburg in Austria and South Korea's Pyeongchang to host the 2010 Winter Olympics.
