New Zealand decathlete Brent Newdick has continued to achieve mixed results, finishing near the back of the field in the 110m hurdles but managing eighth in the discus so far today.
Newdick knocked over more hurdles than he cleared to record a time of 15.02, second-last of those who started, but he bounced back with a throw of 46.15 in the seventh event.
The pole vault saw Newdick post 4.70m, just short of his personal best.
With two events remaining in the competition today - the javelin and 1500m - Newdick sits in 16th place overall with 6561 points.
