Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have found form on the water for New Zealand, the men's 49er team solidifying their second placing in the field after a strong day of racing.
Burling and Turk finished seventh in their first race of the day before taking out second then first in their final two races. With five races to complete before the medal race, the team lie in second place and look like a strong medal chance if they can maintain this kind of form.
The women's 470 of Olivia Powrie and Jo Aleh kicked off their Olympics campaign with a second and a sixth to sit in second place.
New Zealand crews in the Finn and Star classes have progressed to the medal races of their events.
Dan Slater has finished the 10 races in the Finn in ninth place while Hamish Pepper and Jim Turner go through in eighth position. Both boats look unlikely to medal from those positions however.
