Paul Snow-Hansen and Jason Saunders have finished fifth in the men's 470 after they were seventh in the medal race tonight (NZT).
The pair had only the slimmest chance of picking up a medal - they needed to win the race and hope other results went their way - but the real interest was at the head of the fleet where Australia and Great Britain went head-to-head in a battle for gold.
Australia's Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page sailed a clinical race to finish second, two places ahead of Great Britain, to win gold.
Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie are joint leaders in the women's 470 class and need only beat Great Britain in their race later tonight (NZT) to claim gold.
