New Zealand's first Olympic dressage rider, Kallista Field, is following in the hoofmarks of her mum.
The 22-year-old Field will enter the history books when she rides in Sydney as New Zealand's sole dressage competitor.
Her mother, Sharon, who trains dressage horses, was also a ground-breaker in the sport, as the first New Zealander to compete internationally.
Kallista will ride her mother's former horse, Waikare, in Sydney.
The horse is owned by her grandparents, who live in the same town of Pahiatua.
Field edged out England-based rider Catherine Smallbone for the Olympic spot, the first New Zealand has ever earned.
The rest of the New Zealand equestrian team will be named next week - the contentious three-day eventing team on Wednesday and the two-strong showjumping contingent at the weekend.
