New Zealand's Stuart Farquhar needed just one throw to reach tomorrow morning's javelin final at the London Olympics.
The Commonwealth Games silver medallist passed the qualifying distance with his first effort of 82.32 metres on Thursday (NZT).
It was the sixth best throw of the night and he was one of only seven athletes to pass the automatic qualifying distance of 82 metres.
The next five best throwers advanced to make up the 12 final spots.
Czech Republic's Vitezslav Vesely will head into the final as the favourite after a personal best of 88.34 metres, almost four metres further than second placed Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway.
