Olympics: Bronze for Uru and Taylor

Storm Uru and Peter Taylor have earned New Zealand's fourth bronze medal at the London Olympics after a thrilling race on Eton Dorney overnight.

The lightweight double scullers finished behind gold medallists Denmark and the second placed Great Britain crew.

The race initially had to be re-started after the seat of the Great Britain crew came loose, creating a delay of 10 minutes.

The Kiwis - who were the 2009 world champions - posted the second fastest time in the semifinals, behind the British duo of Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter who were world champions.

It capped of a terrific regatta for the Kiwis who earned three golds and two bronze medals over the course of the week on Lake Dorney.

Meanwhile, Emma Twigg failed to find top form in the Olympic final of the women's single scull event, finishing out of the medals.

Defending Olympic champion Czech Mirka Knapkova powered her way to the gold medal, leading the entire race ahead of Fie Erichsen of Denmark and Kim Crow of Australia.

In an up-and-down season for the tall Kiwi, Twigg was happy to just make the final of the event - she eventually finished in fourth place but never looked like threatening the medals.

Yesterday Hamish Bond and Eric Murray took gold in the men's pair and Mahe Drysdale won the single sculls, all within 60 minutes.

On Thursday Nathan Cohen and Joseph Sullivan earned gold in the men's double sculls while women's pair Rebecca Scown and Juliette Haigh won Bronze on Wednesday.
