NZ's top Olympic hopes compete today

New Zealand's best hopes take to the Whistler Sliding Centre at the Vancouver Winter Olympics today.

Skeleton racers Ben Sandford, Iain Roberts and Tionette Stoddard will all compete in their first two of four heats.

Stoddard whose best finish at a world cup meet is seventh, says she is focused on beating her competitors out of the blocks. She says if she can use her strength to push hard at the start and then have four consistent runs then she will be competitive.

It is a busy day for the Kiwis today with flag bearer Juliane Bray and her fellow snowboarders Kendall Brown and Rebecca Sinclair in action, along with Sarah Murphy in the 15 kilometre Biathlon.
