Olympians who are hoping to chase Pokemon as well as medals in Rio will be disappointed to find out that the athletes village is Pokemon-free.
French slalom canoeist Matthieu Peche revealed the Pokemon shortage on Twitter after arriving at the village.
Since launching earlier this month, the internet has gone mad for the Pokemon Go game which, through a smartphone app, allows players to capture, battle, train and trade virtual Pokemon which appear through the real world.
Many athletes have been caught up in the craze including tennis player Nick Kyrgios and a number of members in the Warriors league team.
However any Olympics-bound athletes might need to stray further afield from the athletes' village during their training runs around Rio if they wish to catch any Pokemon.
