There's been high praise for Melbourne's Commonwealth Games preparations, from someone who should certainly know.
New Zealand Chef de Mission Dave Currie has been on a guided tour of the setup and is very optimistic, a year out from the event.
Currie says they could be more successful than the Sydney Olympics.
He has no doubt it will be a wonderful occasion because the people of Melbourne will turn up en masse to watch any sport.
Currie says just about everything is ready, unlike the Athens Olympics, with the facilities close together and the transport system superb.
He says it will be easy for the athletes to get around and just as easy for New Zealand supporters to get from event to event.
The only new facility they are building is an outdoor swimming pool, adjacent to the current indoor one.
