19:15: NZ kayaker Ben Fouhy races in the second heat of K1 1000 at around 7.40pm NZT tonight. Fouhy, the silver medallist in Athens four years ago, says he has enjoyed living in the athletes village and is a good state of mind heading into the start of the compeition.
18:54: Only 10 athletes out of 10,500 at the Beijing Games admit that they are gay. Website Outsports.com revealed the survey results, saying nine of the 10 were lesbians. Only one man, Australian diver Matthew Mitcham, admitted in the survey that he was gay.
18:07: The TV audience for Valerie Vili's gold medal winning shot put effort outstripped interest in the All Blacks, television figures released by AGB Nielsen revealed today. TV One's Beijing Olympic coverage from midnight Saturday averaged 255,000 viewers, while an average 134,000 viewers tuned into the rugby test. The rugby test started 10 minutes before Vili's performance.
17:34: More news from the sailing centre with Kiwi Star class pair Hamish Pepper and Carl Williams winning race five to leave them third just two points off joint leaders Germany and Sweden. Laser Radial sailor Jo Aleh finished 14th in race seven to slip to fourth, 11 points off the lead and eight points off the bronze medal spot. And in the Laser class, Andrew Murdoch recovered to finish fifth for a second consecutive race to move into the top-10, with two races to sail before tomorrow's medal race.
17:23: Solid results for NZ's windsurfers at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center earlier today. Tom Ashley came sixth in race eight to retain his overall lead, while Barbara Kendall finished sixth to remain fifth overall in the women's windsurfing. Both have completed eight of 10 races and need to qualify in the top 10 overall to move into the medal round.
17:12: NZ's cycling pursuit team are desperate to take down Australia in the bronze medal ride-off tonight. The clash at the Olympic velodrome at 10.15pm NZT is a rematch of the world champs bronze medal ride-off which Australia won earlier this year. The NZ team, however, have recorded faster times at this event and are confident of winning tonight's showdown.
17:00: Windsurfer Tom Ashley is fourth after the second mark of race nine, he is still first overall in that class. And in men's basketball a stunning result for Australia. They've hammered previously undefeated Lithuania 105-75. They are likely to play the US in the quarter finals, their tournament should end there.
16:12: There's been a big shock at the Birds Nest Olympic stadium with defending Chinese champion Liu Xiang pulling out of the 110-meter hurdles. Xiang is up wtih Yao Ming as China's biggest sports stars. But when he pulled a hamstring during a false start he just wandered off the track, his Olympics over.
16:02: Hewitt finishes eighth for NZ, Tanner in 10th and Warriner finishes in 16th place. Hewitt tells Radio Sport's Matt Brown she had a couple of bad patches in the run, it was very hot "but she was so pleased she was eighth".
15:55: Snowsill leads by nearly a minute, she will win comfortably. Vanessa Fernandes from Portugal is a long way back in second. The three Kiwi's are well back with Hewitt in seventh, Tanner in ninth and Warriner in 13th at last report. Snowsill runs for home. She's overcome tragedy in the past when her boyfriend was killed by a NZ drunk driver. She grabs an Aussie flag, holds it high, crosses the line and Snowsill wins. Her father is a Kiwi, he's at the finish line, he's delighted. Fernandes finishes second, Emma Moffatt from Australia finishes third.
15:45: The Kiwis are falling away in the women's triathlon. Andrea Hewitt is in sixth midway through the final 10km run leg with Tanner in 10th and Warriner in 14th. Snowsill is streaking away and out on her own, leading by over 30 seconds.
15:30: Andrea Hewitt is in fourth place early into the final 10km run leg of the women's triathlon. Tanner is back in eighth place with Warriner in 10th after colliding with a Spanish competitor coming out of the water. Australian Emma Snowsill has a 20 second lead.
15:15: The three NZers are near the front of the lead pack of around 19 riders nearing the end of the 40km cycling leg in the women's triathlon. The bunch has 6.6km remaining in the cycle leg, they're expected to reach the transition into the 10km run together. The best of the NZers with one lap of the cycle track to go is Sam Warriner in third place.
14:57: James Dolphin has finished well back in his 200m heat and has failed to make the semis.
14:53: The three NZers in the women's triathlon remain close to the front of the lead group, midway through the 40km cycle leg. Hewitt led momentarily as the riders swapped places to conserve energy. Warriner is also close to the lead, sitting in around fifth place. Tanner is also in the lead group of around 17 riders. Warriner is the strongest of the New Zealand runners as the field nears the transition for the 10km run.
14:45: Usain Bolt has comfortably qualified for the 200m semi finals. He finished second in his heat, the top three from each heat qualify. New Zealand's James Dolphin up in heat eight at 2.55pm. We'll bring you the result.
14:33: The Kiwis are moving up in the triathlon. Hewitt is in second place, Warriner seventh and Tanner 11th after the first of six 6.6km laps of the Olympic cycling track.
14:27: Good start for the Kiwis out of the swim. Andrea Hewitt is in 10th place, four seconds behind race leader American Laura Bennett. Debbie Tanner is right there also six seconds off the lead, with Warriner nine seconds back in 18th place. The top group, including the Kiwis, are now out on the 40km cycle.
14:00: Welcome to today's live Olympics updates blog going through until 8pm tonight. We'll be focusing on the women's triathlon during the next couple of hours. NZ's top hope Sam Warriner lines up alongside fellow Kiwis Andrea Hewitt and Debbie Tanner. They're just underway, we'll bring you continuous updates throughout the race.
From 5pm we'll be following the progress of several of our sailing crews in their final races today, looking to make the top 10 in their respective fields to qualify for the medal stage. We'll also bring you the key 200m heats results which include 100m champion Usain Bolt and all the other news from day 10 at the Games.
