More than 1500 athletes and coaches will take part in the Special Olympics national Asia Pacific Invitation Games in Christchurch from November 30 to December 3.
The largest event ever run by Special Olympics New Zealand, athletes from China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and Thailand will also take part.
Over 1400 athletes and coaches from New Zealand are competing as well as 176 from overseas.
The event includes 11 core sports of track and field, golf, swimming, basketball, gymnastics, powerlifting, soccer, bocce, indoor bowls, equestrian and ten pin bowling. along with the demonstration sports of table tennis, badminton and cycling.
