The Kiwis have been early birds and picked their own little corner of the Olympic athletes village.
New Zealand, first to book in along with the United States, have chosen eight townhouses and three storeys of apartments in a quiet back corner of the village, strategically placed halfway between the dining-room and the shops.
While some of the sports will share rooms, there will not be mixed-nation residences as there were in Atlanta.
Some sports have chosen to stay closer to their venues during competition - the rowers have rented housing in Penrith, yachties will have a base in Rushcutters Bay, while equestrian riders will have quarters nearer their event 30 minutes from the city.
