A well known sporting name in New Zealand appears likely to land the Chef de Mission job for the teams at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Dave Currie's left the post after a lengthy tenure, with the NZOC now on the lookout for a replacement.
NZOC Secretary General Kereyn Smith says a background in sport is paramount.
She says it's fundamental with all the investment that the leader of the delegation needs to understand what athletes require.
She says they're working through applications and they'll take their time to appoint the right person.
