Greece unveiled their biggest Olympic team yesterday, just over a fortnight before the Games begin in Athens.
The host country will field 441 athletes led by 200m Olympic champion Konstantinos Kenteris and weightlifter Pyrros Dimas.
Dimas will be Greece's flagbearer before he attempts to win his fourth consecutive Olympic title.
Sydney Olympic silver medallists Ekaterini Thanou, in the 100m, and Mirella Manjani, in the javelin, are among the 213-strong women's contingent.
The smallest country to host the Olympics since Finland in 1952, Greece's previous record entry was at the first modern Olympics in Athens in 1896 with 240 athletes.
Greece picked up 13 medals in Sydney four years ago.
